Submit Your Unique Mash-Up Recipes Until November 17, 2013 For A Chance To Win $1,000!
Newark, NJ (November, 2013) - The Manischewitz® Company, the leader in Kosher foods, is inviting consumers everywhere to celebrate Thanksgivukah! Manischewitz is honoring the once in a lifetime overlap of Chanukah and Thanksgiving with the Thanksgivukah Mash-Up Recipe Contest! This incidence of the holidays will not happen for another 70,000 years! The contest encourages at-home chefs to experiment with kosher products while preparing delicious recipes that highlight the culinary offerings of both holidays in one unique recipe. Recipes will be accepted on the Manischewitz Facebook page from October 28-November 17, 2013.
The entry deadline has been extended to Sunday, November 17, 2013. The mash-up recipe must adhere to Kosher guidelines and include one Manischewitz product. Following the conclusion of the entry period consumers are invited to vote online for their favorite recipe. One vote per person per recipe per day will be permitted. In addition to the online voting, the recipes will be reviewed by a panel of judges on the following criteria: spirit and authenticity of the recipe, creativity, taste, balancing creativity with ease of making and online recipe sharing. The top 10 recipes with the highest scores will be the finalists. Of the final 10, one will be determined by a panel of judges to be the Grand Prize Winner, with an additional three finalists chosen as runners-up. The Grand Prize Winner will win $1,000 and the three runners-up will receive $100 American Express Gift Cards.
"We are excited to be leading the only celebration of Thanksgivukah in our lifetimes," says Avital Pessar, Assistant Brand Manager for The Manischewitz Company. "As a leader in kosher foods, it is important that Manischewitz is involved in this significant occurrence and we look forward to all the mash-up recipes that will be submitted for the contest!"
For the first time since Thanksgiving became a legal holiday, the Jewish celebration of Chanukah coincides with Thanksgiving. The first day of Chanukah falls on the same day of Thanksgiving, which this year is on Thursday, November 28.
