Hermits

Remember those old-fashioned spicy cookies crammed full of nuts and raisins? Here's a quick and easy version destined for a permanent place in your repertoire.

Makes about 3 dozen

12 oz packaged Manischewitz® Passover Honey-Cake Mix
1 tablespoon instant coffee
1 large egg
2 tablespoons peanut oil
Water
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup raisins

Stir the coffee into the cake mix. Break the egg into a measuring cup; add the oil; add water to measure a total of 1/2 cup. Mix as directed on the package. Fold in the raisins and the nuts. Chill in the refrigerator at least one hour. Drop by teaspoonful onto greased cookie sheets. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees F) for 15 minutes. They will be soft. Cool on the cookie sheets one minute and then remove to cooling racks.
